Another empire crumbles
as part of a generation grips their war-ridden retirements
as tightly as they can with their feeble, arthritic hands
unbelieving that they could possibly be nearing the end of the ride
with life to spare during which they may see it all

They hold on to war, unaware that by so doing, they cannot claim
to have ever loved their children
or themselves
or anyone’s children for that matter.
Generations under them, holding them up, but ready to let go,
coming to grips with the fact that
they were always orphans.
That having a family of one’s own is now
reserved for the rich.
That elders to whom they can seek wisdom
are few and far scattered, or often locked away in
old people’s prison
by a system purposefully made unstable.
…
Millions delude themselves in myriad other ways.
…
Gigantic, mediocre music festivals,
clowns captured on countless cameras acting the fool,
isolated masses, silly and sparkling,
truly believing they, too, are immune
even though they are already poisoned
and poisoning all with each vibration
of their bodies as they hit the earth,
fueled probably by a private bank
through a credit card that will ruin their
cReDiT sCoRe as they chase their
fake optimism.
…
Those parroting the propaganda
like the Wizard after the curtain has been drawn.
We see you.
You don’t fool us.
The millions of workers doing fake work, doing much of the parroting.
Untold hundreds of trillions of pieces of paper sloshing
that obfuscate the fake economy
that props up those who do that fake work.
Again, we see you.
…
The decreasing number of real workers keeping us all from fully collapsing—
as they collapse from exhaustion:
these are the truth tellers,
essential, yet essentially erased,
especially the fully enslaved, locked where
you can’t see.
…
Those drowning in their identities:

Sports: Athletes and Fans who don’t apply their physical labor to anything
useful to society.
…
Those not drowning in their identities
yet aware of them and how those identities are used
to divide and conquer us,
how we are pitted against each other based on these hollow shells of self,
who are aware of how those identities are used by
the imperialists
the capitalists
the globalists, if that’s your frame,
who are aware of how certain identities are attacked more than others
to uphold this madness.
…
The wise few, organizing, caring for their communities,
doing what they can to educate and activate those aware but beaten.
The thankless few.
But they do what they can,
what they must.
The masses spit on them,
celebrate their imprisonment,
their murder,
not aware that if the few fail,
we all fail.
…
Chances are
I wrote this for you.
You captured it with these words. Sadly beautiful and devastating.
